Biography

She was born in 1986 in İstanbul. In 2007 she completed her internship in U.S Commercial Service in İzmir, which gave her opportunity to join the organisation of the anniversary of American Independence Day and to meet Ross Wilson, who was the American Ambassador in that time.

She worked as an assistant of international artists in İzmir International Contemporary Art Festival.Her desire to use her foreign languages directed her in the area of tourism. After working in tourism in 2010 she started working in the family business as an executive in Total. During her work in family business she continued working as a freelance translator. In 2012 she completed her Internship in İstek Uluğbey Schools. After working as teacher for a while in 2012 she established a company with her sister, who was also one of the partners of the company.

 

Studies

After graduating from İstek Uluğbey Schools she started studying at Yeditepe University in 2004 in Translation Studies. During her studies she obtained scholarship by taking part as a volleyball player at the university team. Her interest in learning new languages led her learn many languages including English, German, and Spanish. In 2008 she became one of the first students, who went to Barcelona as an Erasmus student in her department. She studied at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya in the Humanities department.

She not only improved her academic knowledge but also improved her personal, and social skills during the time she lived in Barcelona. In 2009 she graduated from Translation Studies as fourth in her department with an honour degree. In 2012 she attended Pedagogical Formation Program in English Teaching at Marmara University. In 2012 she started to study her Master of Arts in Social Anthropology department at Yeditepe University.

 

Anthropology

Her curiosity about different cultures, and their motives directed her to anthropology. In 2012 she started to study her MA in Social Anthropology department at Yeditepe University with teachers like Prof. Dr. Jay Fikes, and Prof. Dr. Belkıs Kümbetoğlu, which changed her world point of view about cultures and beyond. As part of her MA studies she did several research projects. In 2014 she worked as a researcher/anthropologist in the research team with the leadership of Prof. Dr. Belkıs Kümbetoğlu in the research project “There is a safe life!” which is financed by EU in East Marmara Region.

In 2015 she joined European Sociological Associasition (ESA) in Prague with her colleague as a researcher, presenter and co-author of the research ”Women’s NGO’s and Activism in the Current Context in Turkey” which she worked with the leadership of Prof. Dr. Belkıs Kümbetoğlu. 

In 2021 she completed her MA degree at Yeditepe University in Anthropology department by writing her graduation thesis on Yoga Subculture in İstanbul; Body, Belonging, Identity. 

 

Yoga & Pilates & Reiki

In 2013 during her studies she witnessed constant conversation of her classmates about yoga one of whom is a yoga instructor. She joined her classmate’s yoga workshop in order to know about yoga. She admired yoga from her first session. Till then she continued taking sessions from her first teacher Ali Rıza Mumoğlu. Yoga became her preferential and passion in her life. She attended MindBody Festival İstanbul 2013. She took many sessions from international instructors one of whom was Chris Chavez. Taking many sessions and practising yoga she saw the positive change in her body, mind, soul and also in her daily life. Inspiring from Chris Chavez, who she met in MindBody Festival İstanbul, and joining many workshops she decided to start yoga certification program in Cihangir YogaThe Chris Chavez Path to Teaching (200 hr, Yoga Alliance) in 2014. She started teaching group yoga sessions in Taksim Rixos Hotel.

In 2015 she had Reiki Usui System (Reiki 1) certificate and started The Cihangir Yoga Path to Transformative Living and Yoga Advanced Level Program (300 hr, Yoga Alliance).

In 2016 after completing Cihangir Yoga Mentorship Program she did assistantship in Bade Gül Kılınç’s yoga sessions in Cihangir Yoga. She completed Pregnancy Yoga Program with Mey Elbi & Nur Sakallı, and also Mat 1, Reformer 1 Pilates Program from Taha Erpulat in Balanced Body University Turkey, in BAPS. In 2017 she completed Mat 2, Reformer 2, Trapeze Table, Cadillac 1-2-3 Program from Taha Erpulat in Balanced Body University Turkey, in BAPS. and also Reiki Usui System (Reiki 2). In 2018 she completed Restorative Yoga Program with Gül Dirican in Cihangir Yoga, and Reformer 3  from Taha Erpulat in Balanced Body University Turkey, in BAPS. In 2021 she completed Chairs-Barrels 1-2-3 Program from Taha Erpulat in Balanced Body University Turkey, in BAPS. In 2022 she completed Intensive Yin Yoga Training Program (50hrs YA) from Berivan Aslan Sungur in Hapaka. Same year she also completed Kids Yoga Training Program (95 hrs, YA)  from Gökçe Akyıldız  in Cihangir Yoga. She worked in institutions like Cihangir YogaArçelik, Niche Pilates YogaShe took place in many kirtan events  as a leading voice in Cihangir Yoga Kirtan Group.  In 2022 she moved to Belgium, Brussels, Wezembeek-Oppem. Currently she teaches at Charlotte Studio, Gympies, Kinefix and gives individual, group yoga and pilates sessions online and in person.

Interests

Her interest in volleyball had started when she finished primary school. In her early ages, she played in Fenerbahçe, Vakıfbak Güneş Sigorta, and Galatasaray. She had degrees in Turkey and İstanbul. She had an active sport life starting from volleyball, tennis, pilates, and fitness in all her life. She likes knowing new cultures, traveling, chanting mantras, and discovering the world. She likes expressing herself by writing through her experiences in life. She enjoys being connected with nature and environment, and spending time with her dogs.
